Officials at the Marshall County Museum are welcoming visitors inside the facility again beginning Tuesday, April 6.

Museum Director Linda Rippy reminded the Marshall County Commissioners of the reopening during their meeting Monday morning.

Rippy commented, “We’ll still require them to wear a mask.  I don’t know that we can force them, but we’re going to strongly encourage everybody to do that, and keep a distance and use hand sanitizer.  A lot of our volunteers are senior citizens and we’re trying to protect them too.”

Rippy noted that the majority of the staff has gotten the COVID-19 vaccine, but for now visitors are strongly encouraged to wear a mask while inside the museum.

The train room and the children’s area may have visitor capacity limits to maintain a social distance to keep everyone safe.  Volunteers will also be able to help patrons do research inside the museum, but if patrons would rather have assistance at a distance, help can be provided for projects by calling the museum at 574-936-2306.

The coronavirus took its toll on donations with the closure of the museum, but officials are hoping that the generosity of visitors will soon benefit the museum with projects.

The Marshall County Museum, at the corner of Garro and Michigan Streets in Plymouth, is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET.
