Beginning Tuesday, April 6, patrons who go into the Marshall County Building, Marshall County Courthouse and Marshall County Museum will no longer be required to wear a face covering.
Marshall County Commission President Kevin Overmyer said the county will be following Governor Eric Holcomb’s order where a mask advisory takes effect April 6.
“At one time we were more restrictive than what the governor was, but then we took our restrictions off with the governor and what he was doing,” stated Overmyer. “I think it’s time that we take our signs down. As you all know, everybody has guards up between the public and the employees. Just because we’re doing this doesn’t mean you still can’t wear a mask. If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask in your situations, then put them on. Me, personally, I think it’s time we move on.”
The Governor’s Executive Order still requires masks inside state government buildings, outside state government buildings when social distancing cannot be maintained, COVID-19 testing and vaccination sites, and K-12 schools through the end of the school year.
The Marshall County Courts will continue to follow the guidelines set forth by the Indiana Supreme Court.
Marshall County Commissioners Michael Burroughs and Stan Klotz agreed with the end of the face covering restriction at the county buildings. Any business in the county may decide on guidelines as deemed necessary as it follows with Governor Holcomb’s order.
