Marshall County Public Health Nurse Lisa Letsinger updated those attending the Marshall County Commissioners meeting Monday about the recent excursion of the county’s state-of-the-art mobile medical unit.
“We did go out to the Marshall County Jail and did vaccinate some inmates,” stated Letsinger. “Because the vaccine comes in multi-dose vials, we did have a few doses left so we went over to the Administration Building here in town (Plymouth) and also vaccinated some Plymouth Community School staff.”
She added that they are continuing to work on some of the data equipment in the unit. They are working with officials with SMART Temps to work with equipment communication.
Letsinger and Public Health Nurse and Educator Sandy Dunfee are developing a schedule of when the mobile medical unit will be on the road to help Marshall County residents.
Letsinger continued, “We will be out at all Marshall County schools doing COVID vaccine for staff. That starts Thursday of this week. After we get done visiting all of the local schools for COVID vaccine, we’re going to circle back and do some childhood vaccine updates for the county schools. We have lots of plans to have it out and about.”
There could be an occasion where the mobile medical unit could visit Rentown assist with a vaccination clinic to assist the Amish communities.
Letsinger also commented that the vaccination clinics are going well at the Health Department and there is a large interest from the public in getting the COVID-19 vaccines. Commission President Kevin Overmyer said he has heard a lot of compliments on how smoothly the clinics run and thanked all who participate in the process.
