Marshall County under Watch Level Travel Advisory

Marshall County is under a “Watch” level travel advisory.

The Marshall County Commissioners, Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director Clyde Avery and Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters determined that road conditions require the elevated travel advisory, which means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public.

Peters said a skeleton crew will be running the main lines tonight (Thursday, February 4).  He added that roadways are turning to slush and he is hoping that the highway crews can get as much slush off the roadways before colder temperatures freeze it and help the morning commute.  A full call-out is expected at 4 a.m. Friday.

Only essential travel, such as to and from work, is recommended.  Emergency action plans should be implemented by schools, businesses, government agencies and other organizations.

The Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service is set to expire Friday (February 5) morning.  Until then, drivers should be aware of blowing and drifting snow, and reduced visibility.
