Marshall County Public Health Emergency Disaster Declaration Allowed to Expire, County Mask Order Lifted

The Marshall County Public Health Disaster Emergency Declaration was allowed to expire this week.  The Marshall County Commissioners had the weekly declaration in place for several months during the COVID-19 health pandemic.   It was last renewed on February 16 and set to expire on February 23.  It was not renewed Tuesday, February 23.

Additionally, Marshall County Health Nurse Lisa Letsinger confirmed that the county’s mask mandate was lifted Monday.  However, she stressed that Governor Eric Holcomb’s mask order remains in effect.  The county’s order outlined fines for violations which are no longer binding.

Letsinger stated that the numbers are trending in the right direction.  She encourages residents to maintain mitigation practices that got the county to the point where it is now, which includes following the Governor’s Executive Order.  Governor Holcomb announced Wednesday that current COVID-19 restrictions will remain in effect for another month.  Residents are still asked to wear a mask while out in public spaces, wash hands frequently throughout the day, use hand sanitizer when possible, and maintain a social distance.
