The Marshall County Council considered a resolution Monday morning that would extend COVID-19 pay for employees who cannot work because of a diagnosis or illness from COVID.
Commission President Kevin Overmyer explained that the commissioners signed the extension at the end of December when the time expired.
“This gives our employees another 80 hours of COVID time from January 1 to December 31, 2021,” said Overmyer. “We have a lot of new employees that have contracted COVID. They don’t have any sick time yet, they don’t have any personal days, they don’t have any time. So, this allows those people to continue to be paid through no fault of their own. It’s just a way of showing appreciation for our employees until we all get vaccinated.”
The county still has CARES Act funding to assist with the funding.
The council members approved the resolution with a unanimous vote.
