Argos Town Council Discusses Interlocal Agreement with County for Building and Planning Services

The Argos Town Council members voted to terminate an interlocal agreement with Marshall County during their meeting Wednesday night.

This is in response to the Marshall County Commissioners’ decision to not reappointment Chuck DeWitt as the county’s building commissioner.  Argos held the agreement with the county for DeWitt’s services outside of county hours to help with zoning and building needs in the Town of Argos.

Instead, the Argos Town Council members considered a sole contract with DeWitt to retain his services for the town as an independent contractor.

The contract addendum would include wording of a contract pay increase from $8,000 to $11,000 and the requirement to retain liability insurance.

The changes were approved with a unanimous vote.
