Culver Town Manager Jonathan Leist provided the town council members with good news this week.
Leist said the town is the recipient of a grant that allows for the installation of a vehicle charging station in town next year.
According to information on MACOG’s website, the Indiana Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust Fund Committee recently awarded funding for 56 Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations across the state, including 11 sites in the MACOG region in northern Indiana.
Culver joins Plymouth and nine other communities in receiving grant funds for this endeavor.
MACOG is providing a $500 match for each station, and NIPSCO is also providing a $500 match for each qualifying station in their service territory.
Leist said the town was also awarded about $221,000 in INDOT’s Community Crossings Matching Grant which covered all of what was requested in this round of grant funds. That will include paving work on sections on several streets in town, and crack sealing on the north part of town.
