Marshall County Attorney Jim Clevenger told the commissioners Monday morning that purchase agreement has been signed on the Doug Hite Law Office on Jefferson Street in Plymouth. The closing date is set for December 18.
The commissioners plan to demolish the building on site to create more parking spaces at that location. Commission President Kevin Overmyer previously commented that parking has always been an issue around the courthouse and it will have a bigger impact once the new court is in session July 1, 2021.
Additionally, Clevenger said two appraisals have been sought for the purchase of a building on Plum Street in Plymouth. Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Director Doug Masterson asked the commissioners to look into that property as a possible storage building for equipment for the maintenance department. One appraisal is complete while the second one was supposed to be ready this week. The commissioners will look at the appraisals and decide whether or not to move forward on purchasing the property. The county cannot pay more than the average of the two appraisals.
