The Culver Town Council members looked at recommendations for Baker Tilly officials as the discussion surrounding an increase in storm water fees continues.
Jeff Rowe from Baker Tilly presented a plan at the last meeting for a possible storm water rate increase from $2.00 up to $4.36 in three phases.
The storm sewer rate was adopted fee 2012 and the rate has not changed. It currently generates about $30,000 for projects or maintenance.
Town Manager Jonathan Leist explained that he and Utility Superintendent Bob Porter reviewed the Utilities Master Plan and decided to remove a storm water project at the Culver Town Park in the amount of $75,000 and replace it with a line item for $40,000 for existing service extension and a line item for $10,000 for system maintenance. That change may adjust the fee increase when reviewed by Baker Tilly officials. The council agreed with that recommendation and it will be submitted to Baker Tilly officials as they continue with the study. The updated utility study and recalculated rate will be presented at an upcoming council meeting for further consideration.
