Marshall County Commissioners Updated on Community Corrections Move, Hite Property Sale

The Marshall County Community Corrections staff will be moving out of the Marshall County Courthouse to the Community Resource Center on Adams Street in January.

The move is the result of the creation of Superior Court No. 3 which will utilize space currently occupied by Community Corrections in the courthouse.

The Marshall County Commissioners signed the lease agreement between the county and the Community Resource Center Monday morning.  The lease is for five years where the payment the first three years is $1,619.20 a month and $1,692.80 in years four and five.  The money will come out of the Community Corrections budget.

Additionally, the closing date on the county’s purchase of the Doug Hite Law Office on Jefferson Street in Plymouth is set for December 18.  The county will get possession of the building on January 1.  The county purchased the property for $138,500, which is the average price of two appraisals conducted on the property.

The commissioners plan to demolish the building on site and create more parking spaces at that location.  Commission President Kevin Overmyer previously commented that parking has always been an issue around the courthouse and it will have a bigger impact once the new court is in session July 1, 2021.
