The Marshall County Commissioners are supporting a vehicle purchase for Marshall County Coroner John Grolich.
Marshall County Commission President Kevin Overmyer said with the number of recent deaths and to help with precautions with COVID-19 deaths, it is time to allow the purchase of a transport vehicle for the coroner’s office.
The vehicle in operation is not suitable for the coroner.
A van would cost in the neighborhood of about $65,000.
The commissioners support the purchase, but it has not been officially approved.
Meanwhile, work has begun on the construction of the Marshall County Morgue building. The morgue will be a 64×40 building with a storage component inside the structure measuring 24×40. The building will be large enough for an autopsy space, an area to secure decedents, a reception area for families, and office for the coroner. It will be located near the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department off of Pioneer Drive in Plymouth.
