Marshall County officials have recently fielded calls from concerned residents about employees not wearing masks inside businesses and residents not wearing masks while in the stores.
Governor Eric Holcomb has not lifted the state’s mask order and local health officials continues to ask for compliance as COVID-19 positive cases continue on an upward trend.
Marshall County Health Nurse Lisa Letsinger addressed concerns voiced by Marshall County Council member Jim Masterson Monday morning. Masterson said he was told that Marshall County residents are shopping outside of the county at businesses where employees are wearing masks because he said the people felt safer. “We still fall under the governor’s guidelines and recommendations, but we are fighting that in our community where people aren’t necessarily following guidance and I know that we get a lot of calls and complaints at the Health Department. Until there’s something further either from Governor Holcomb or locally – it’s very difficult. I’ve said over and over ‘not one organization can fight this alone.’ We need everyone’s participation.
The Marshall County Commissioners have declared a public health disaster emergency which is set to expire Tuesday, but it anticipated to be renewed for another seven days.
