Argos Town Council to Take Bids for Farm Lease Soon

Officials from the Town of Argos will soon accept bids for 20 acres of farmland available for lease.

Town Attorney Derek Jones explained to the Argos Town Council members last week that he will look at the calendar to set a public hearing, and then a resolution will need to be adopted to accept bids.  That resolution will need to be published with a deadline for the acceptance of bids.  Jones said ideally the council should award a lease before January 1.

The farm ground is located on town-owned property on Dewey Street.  The amount of acreage available keeps dwindling.  Last year, about 38 acres was available for lease compared to 20 acres being offered this year.

The town council members unanimously approved a motion to allow Jones to begin the lease process.
