Argos Town Council Votes to Start Legal Proceedings on Three Properties

The Argos Town Council voted last week to start legal proceedings on three potentially unsafe properties. Town officials reported that the owners of 118 North Maple Street had begun moving some stuff away, but many parts of the property were still full of trash.

Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney reported that 311 West Street has had a trailer sitting on the property for a few years and a blue tarp on the roof for some time now. The owner had apparently told town officials that he was planning to sell the property several months ago, but so far, that hasn’t happened. Council Member Charles Randy Snead believed the owner now wants the town to simply tear the structure down.

Mullaney also said the occupants of 210 North Maple Street had promised to take care of the issues there, but it still hasn’t been done after several months. Council members agreed to continue going through the proper steps to address the three properties, as outlined in the town’s ordinances.
