The Argos Town Council members signed three resolutions last week that are in accordance with the American Disabilities Act compliance.
At the council’s earlier August meeting, they reviewed a proposed ADA plan and map compiled by MACOG. The purpose of this plan is to ensure that the Town of Argos creates reasonable, accessible paths of travel in the public right-of-way for everyone, including people with disabilities. The plan will help town officials to prioritize areas in order to make improvements.
Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney noted that there are not any critical areas that need to be immediately addressed, but the map shows the areas where the town could improve accessibility.
Utility Superintendent Jamie Lindstrom said at the time that his department can replace any curbs that need to be compliant at a cost of about $90 apiece. He will address any areas that may be affected with the council as necessary.
The council adopted resolutions that address accessible design, a coordinator and grievance procedures and the plan itself.
The plan is available for review in the office of the Argos Clerk-Treasurer.
