Argos Town Council Addresses Utility Shutoffs

The Argos Town Council members addressed the moratorium on the utility shutoffs and how many residents it will be affecting.

Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney said the moratorium ends Friday, Aug. 14 at 11:59 p.m.  However, shutoffs will not occur until Monday, Aug. 17.

Mullaney stated, “I’ve notified some of the landlords that their tenants are behind.  Due to HIPAA, I cannot tell how much they are behind, but I can say if they are 30, 60 or 90 days.  It’s just to give them a heads up that utilities might go off on the 17th.”

There are 56 customers who are behind in utility bills.
