The Culver Town Council took action Tuesday night on a conditional offer to hire a new Culver-Union Township EMS Director.
The position suddenly became vacant on June 5 after Deanna Cleveland resigned. Cleveland took over for long-time EMS Director Kathy Hart. To fill the gap, Scott Erickson had been acting as interim EMS director, sharing administrative duties with fellow EMS employee Stephen Kobitz.
Culver Town Manager Jonathan Leist told the Culver Town Council members Tuesday that the EMS hiring committee met last week and came up with a recommendation to hire Jeff Koon, who thanked the council for the consideration.
“I’m looking forward to working with all of you and I’m also looking forward to working with a lot of the stakeholders within Marshall County, emergency services, and the town marshal,” stated Koon. “I want to make sure that Culver is represented well within the county and well within the district in Indiana.”
The Culver Town Council unanimously approved a conditional offer to Koon at $23.00 an hour.
Leist also noted that there was a shift last week that wasn’t able to be covered with a paramedic. Conversations were held with the district coordinator on how the town is working to avoid situations like that and suggested the town apply for a waiver for that issue.
