Culver Town Council to Consider Possible COVID-19 Testing Options

The Culver Town Council may be looking into avenues to provide COVID-19 testing for town employees.

Culver Town Council President Ginny Bess Munroe said she spoke to Culver Academies administrators about the testing they are doing for students returning to the school this fall.  She inquired about the cost in case the town would purchase similar equipment to begin testing employees who work with the public on a more regular basis, such as EMS employees and police officers.

A certification is needed in order to do testing and there needs to be an association with a clinic or a medical center.  Munroe thought maybe the EMS Department would qualify, but more research would be needed.

Councilman Rich West asked if there could be a contract or an agreement with Culver Academies to provide the service to the town employees and Munroe agreed that the avenue could be explored further.  That information will be gathered and presented to the council members at a future meeting.
