Trash rates in the Town of Culver will be increasing July 1, but the residents won’t experience paying that increase until potentially next year.
Culver Town Manager Jonathan Leist explained to the council members earlier this month that the trash rates will increase from $14.09 to $15.00 on July 1. It was his suggestion that the town absorb the increase until they review rates later this fall to determine when that increase will be handed down to the customers.
He said that a $1.00 administrative fee, authorized by an ordinance, is collected by customers monthly to offset costs associated with the trash program, or work conducted by the deputy clerk or utility employee as it relates to trash concerns. He suggested paying the $709 per month shortfall for now with those funds collected and then assess the increase to customers at some point at the beginning of the year.
The council members agreed to follow that recommendation. They will look into the matter at some point in the fall.
