The Argos Town Council members agreed to move the process along to purchase a piece of property in town for an upcoming Stellar Communities project.
Argos Town Attorney Derek Jones told the council members that option to purchase paperwork was given to Speedway company officials in order to buy the property for a downtown square project outlined in the Regional Development Plan for the Marshall County Crossroads Stellar Communities Initiative.
The property would be purchased by a vote of the Argos Redevelopment Commission, but they presented the paperwork to the council for their comments on the matter.
The Argos Town Council members voted unanimously to allow the Redevelopment Commission members to proceed with the agreements even if grant money is not available for the proposed project.
The Stellar projects for the Town of Argos include walking paths, a sidewalk addition and sidewalk improvements, housing, work at Pond Park and the Argos Downtown Square.
