Five members have been appointed to the newly formed Marshall County Parks and Recreation Board.
The Marshall County Commissioners appointed Republican Greg Hildebrand for a four-year term and Democrat Richard Markley for a two-year term to the board. Hildebrand will be the acting President until the board holds elections.
The Marshall County Council members appointed Democrat Adam Thada to a four-year term and Bremen Park Superintendent Republican Brian Main to a two-year term. Marshall County Circuit Court Judge Curtis Palmer chose the last member of the board and he appointed Deb VanDeMark to the board for a one-year term.
As the initial terms expire, each new appointment would be for a four-year term. All terms shall expire on the first Monday in January, but a member can continue in office until a successor is appointed.
Funding for park projects can come through grant funds or public donations. An annual budget would be prepared as other departments as determined by the State Board of Accounts.
