Plymouth School Board Ratifies Superintendent’s Emergency Actions

The Plymouth Community School Board members took action this week to ratify several emergency action items taken by Superintendent Andy Hartley in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

Hartley submitted the corporation’s continuous learning plan to the Indiana Department of Education, and determined the Teacher Evaluation Plan for the remainder of the school year which will be based on performance according to the Teacher Effectiveness Rubric for the 2019-2020 school year.

According to the document timeline provided, Hartley also authorized Lincoln Junior High School personnel to empty student belongings from lockers and create a distribution plan that was in line with safe social distancing guidelines.  This was to help get items moved out of the building for an auction of unused items with eventual demolition of most of the current building.

Action was also taken to help the community with COVID-19 testing.  Hartley approved the high school to be a site for the Indiana National Guard to set up a field hospital should the need arise.  The parking lot will also be used for a drive-thru COVID-19 testing site hosted by the Indiana State Department of Health and the Marshall County Health Department.

In addition, the high school parking lot was approved to be used as a distribution site for the Northern Indiana Food Bank on April 30 and May 14.

All actions were ratified with a unanimous vote.
