Marshall County employees are permitted to return to work Tuesday, April 21.
The Marshall County Commissioners met for their regular meeting inside the Marshall County Building on Monday morning where President Kevin Overmyer stated it was the first step to try and reopen the county for business. Members of the media were in attendance at the meeting as well as several department heads at a social distance.
While all employees will be going back to their regular duties, the Marshall County Building the Marshall County Courthouse and Annex will remain closed to the public.
A resolution unanimously approved by the commissioners on Monday delivers guidelines for the employees to follow. Overmyer read aloud some of those guidelines as directed by County Medical Officer Dr. Byron Holm.
Overmyer said, “Separate by six feet, wash and sanitize hands frequently, don’t touch your face, cover your mouth if you cough or sneeze, mask when close, if you are experiencing a temperature or are sick stay home, it’s your responsibility to prevent spread, and keep Marshall County safe. You’re contagious one day before symptoms and five days after.”
Each employee will receive a copy of the guidelines as a daily reminder.
If residents need to get a hold of an employee, the best method is to call or email that person. Arrangements can be made to meet in person, but it will be for essential business only and the resident shall exercise social distancing and wear a mask.
The resolution is in place until the governor lifts the order to shelter-in-place.
The commissioners agreed to go this route, but if there are issues the county could ask nursing students to take the temperature of all employees prior to entering the building and answer a questionnaire before being allowed into the building.
