Encore Performance of Heartless Planned for Sunday in South Bend

An encore performance of Heartless will take to the stage on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. ET at the South Bend Civic Theatre.

The play features current and former offenders from the South Bend Community Re-Entry Center.  It portrays the journey of an offender’s unique path of ultimately accepting the consequences of destructive actions with the eventual realization of redemption and forgiveness.

The play was in Plymouth a couple of weeks ago and Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel had the opportunity to take a few inmates considered as trustees to the play.  He told the Marshsall County Council members in a work session concerning a proposed jail expansion that he felt the inmates learned a lot in the message of the play.

The play was written by Antrone Crockett who is currently incarcerated at the Indiana Department of Correction South Bend Community Re-Entry Center.  He also portrays a character in the play.
