The Bremen Town Council members were given an INDOT contract Monday night for the placement of eight stop lights at the corner of Plymouth Street and Center Street.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy said it’s all a part of the downtown project planned this summer. It’s expected to start after the Firemen’s Festival parade on June 16.
Weldy said INDOT will give the town $300,000 to replace the street lights, poles, and conduit at that intersection. It will be done when the sidewalks and curbs are replaced and when the street project is underway.
The Bremen Town Council members thought that they’d read through the contract first before approving it. Town Attorney Anthony Wagner said the approval of the contract is not time sensitive so the council members thought it best to wait until the next meeting to formally approve the contract.
