Amid discussions of moving forward with solutions to help reduce the jail population, Marshall County Attorney Jim Clevenger continues to address several civil lawsuits filed that deal with the overcrowding situation.
Clevenger said he’s working with Betty Knight with the Knight Law Firm concerning several American Civil Liberties Union lawsuits filed against the county. He added that attempts are being made to reach preliminary agreements. They’re also reviewing a growing number of damage claims.
As of Monday, Dec. 9 the jail population was at about 260. The recommended capacity is 239.
