Culver School Board Accepts $1,500 Donation for Negative Lunch Balances

Posted on December 30, 2019December 29, 2019Author Michael Gallenberger

Culver Elementary School students who’ve fallen behind in their lunch payments are getting some help, thanks to the Starke County Sheriff’s Department. The school board recently accepted a $1,500 donation to help pay off negative lunch balances, according to Superintendent Karen Shuman.

The Sheriff’s Department has been making donations to all four of the school corporations serving Starke County, with proceeds from its “No Shave November” fundraiser. The Knox Community School Corporation also received $1,500. Oregon-Davis got $400, and North Judson-San Pierre received $300.

In other business, Shuman says the school board approved a transfer resolution to clean up line items for the end of the year. She says that most of the transfers were due to the change in the school funding structure that took effect at the beginning of 2019.
