Another manufacturing center is planned for construction in Marshall County.
Marshall County Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Jerry Chavez asked the county commissioners Monday morning for a partnership in the process.
“The site that has been identified is a site that the county owns which is about 10 acres north of the Marshall County Jail,” said Chavez.
He said the goal is to acquire the site so engineering work can begin with the hopes of construction beginning next summer.
Chavez said an agreement will be presented to the county for the purchase of the land.
“It’s almost like a land contract, if you will, where the MCEDC holds the title. We are prepared to pay the commissioners $264,000 for about 10 acres.”
He said that money will come due after a three-year term or if that 50,000 square foot building is sold for occupancy.
The MCEDC will also have an agreement Plymouth Redevelopment Commission for the project.
County Attorney Jim Clevenger said the commissioners would have to dispose of the real estate if they decide to move forward with the proposal.
The commissioners agreed to move forward with the purchase agreement.
