Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters presented a request to the county council Wednesday morning for a proposed project for INDOT’s call for projects in 2025.
Peters, sitting alongside Commission President Kevin Overmyer, said the proposed project would extend Veteran’s Parkway in Plymouth. The two-mile stretch would go from North Michigan Street, to Oak Road to Pine.
Peters noted that this project would be funded, in part, by the county and by the City of Plymouth with a joint application due by Dec. 13 to be reviewed by MACOG and then to INDOT for approval.
The total cost of the project would be about $15 million with the county’s contribution about $1.9 million.
Overmyer said this extension would work in coordination with a future INDOT project on U.S. 30 that could potentially affect the major intersections at Pioneer Drive and Oak Road, but no specific details were provided. J-turns have been a topic of discussion for King and Queen Road intersections.
The Marshall County Council members approved a motion to verbally support the project which would allow Peters to file a joint application with the City of Plymouth for this project, pending the city’s commitment to funding. They also allowed Peters to submit an alternate request in the 2025 Call for Projects for Bridge #232 which is the Randolph Street bridge.
