The Marshall County Council members considered several additional appropriation requests last week.
Marshall County Coroner John Grolich asked to spend additional funds to help cover costs through the end of the year.
Grolich commented that there have been two fire deaths this year which takes longer to fully investigate. Plus, a number of fatal accidents and other cases requiring the coroner’s assistance have caused a shortfall in the budget.
The coroner asked for $10,000 in an additional appropriation for autopsy expenses, $4,000 for toxicology, $600 for fuel and $1,000 for morgue supplies.
The additional appropriation request was approved with a unanimous vote, along with a request from the Marshall County Museum for the Historical Society who asked for $10,000 for wages/clerical for the remainder of the year.
