Argos Officials Congratulate Boys’ Soccer Team for Winning State Championship

The Argos High School Boys’ Soccer team was recognized for their recent State Championship win when Town Council members met for their first meeting of the month.

Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney said Councilman Robert Byers brought the topic up and congratulated the team.

She noted that the sentiment was echoed by the other officials and said they emphasized how proud they were of the boys for the hard work they put in and their success this season.

Mullaney shared that while this is the first State Championship that has been won by the Argos soccer team since the establishment of the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA), it’s not the first ever. She noted that the school’s team also won State in the late 70’s.

The Argos community has a long history of celebrating the sport. They even incorporated a soccer ball in place of the letter “O” in one version of the Town’s logo that was unveiled last September in order to highlight the historical accomplishment of being the first public school to form a soccer team in Indiana.
