The Marshall County Council members agreed to support funding for a new boiler at the Marshall County Building.
Maintenance Director Doug Masterson said the current equipment is not working properly. In the early 2000s, a boiler was installed with 1 million BTU with 7 burners, but only 5 are working now.
With winter right around the corner, Masterson suggested replacing the boiler now before colder weather settles in the area because it nearly quit working when it was below zero in January.
Masterson received two quotes for a boiler from Dynamic Mechanical Services for $45,678 and Bowman’s Tin Shop for $59,700.
The council members approved support to purchase an Aerco boiler from Dynamic Mechanical Services. The Marshall County Commissioners will need to review the agreement and sign for the work to be done. It will be then when Masterson can order the boiler and schedule time for installation. The council members will need to approve an additional appropriation in order for that money to be spent.
