Plymouth City Council Opens Public Hearing on Pre-Adoption of 2020 Budget

A public hearing opened by the Plymouth City Council members Monday night included information on the 2020 budget.

Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver noted all of the cuts have been determined that deal with next year’s budget.

An $18,000 heart monitor and five full sets of turnout gear worth $11,000 were cut from the fire department’s budget in addition to a reduction of $4,500 for portable radios.

From the park department’s budget, a $50,000 skate rink and a $300,000 play set were cut.  A duplicate line item from the street department’s budget was eliminated as well as $10,000 from the sidewalk budget.  The aviation budget was cut $3,000 in the Other Materials line item.

Xaver mentioned that the cuts totaled $596,500.  With the $1 million transferred from dormant funds in an action taken by Plymouth officials last month, the budget concerns have been satisfied for 2020.  She stressed that it doesn’t satisfy concerns in future year budgets.

No other comments were provided during the public hearing.
