Other Avenues Being Reviewed for Purchase of Plymouth Fire Truck

Plymouth Fire Chief Rod Miller and Plymouth City Attorney Sean Surrisi are exploring options of purchasing a new fire truck for the fire department.

The purchase of a fire truck is typically taken from the Cumulative Capital Development Fund, but Miller said in previous meetings that the fund would not be able to support the purchase in the 2020 budget.  Miller is looking to replace a 27-year-old fire truck on the fleet.

Surrisi updated the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission members last week saying that the option of financing the $700,000 truck through the Indiana Bond Bank with a program called Hoosier Equipment Leasing Program is not preferable after a discussion with Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver.  In that scenario, the Redevelopment Commission could work with US Bank in a lease-to-own situation where the city would put $200,000 in TIF funds as a down payment and finance the rest.

Instead, Surrisi said they are going to keep working on a solution.
