Plymouth BOW Updated on Demolition Orders

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members were updated on demolition orders at the old Clarke gas station on East Jefferson Street and property at 881 Broadway.

Building Commissioner Keith Hammonds said he met with City Attorney Sean Surrisi, City Engineer Rick Gaul and Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson at the property last week to discuss how they want to proceed with demolition.

Surrisi added that the scope was set as to what is to happen and then that information will be sent to demolition contractors.  More information should be provided at the second meeting in September.

As for 881 Broadway, Surrisi said he’s been in contact with the attorney for the local owner who said a proposal has been sent to the other owner in Florida to purchase the building.  Past communication has been non-existent so Surrisi said they are waiting for a response.

The board gave the owners a deadline of Sept. 9 to come up with a solution or the property will be scheduled for demolition.
