Plymouth Officials Praise Volunteers on Viaduct Work

The Plymouth City Council members took the time this week to thank the many volunteers and donors who assisted with painting the viaduct on Michigan Street in Plymouth.

In a previous Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety meeting, Organizer Brent Martin said it was time for it to be done.  He and Paul Schoberg got together and moved the project forward in November and it finally took place the last weekend in June and the first weekend in July.  The volunteers received permission to close down one side of Michigan Street at a time for two weekends to paint the viaduct and clean the limestone to beautify the area.

Several donations were made toward the cost of paint and other work.

The railroad company signed off on the paperwork for insurance purposes and approved the project.

When providing an update to the Plymouth City Council members this week, City Attorney Sean Surrisi said that he participated in railroad safety training in order to assist at the site while work was being done.  He was present for both sessions of work.

Several comments were made by community members who thanked all involved for helping to improve their community.
