The Marshall County Commissioners opened a public hearing Monday morning to gather public comments on an ordinance defining fees for certain ordinance violations.
County Attorney Jim Clevenger said the ordinance is an amendment to an ordinance passed in 2016 that created a list of violations and fines to be used by the Ordinance Violations Bureau.
The proposed fees include: abandoned junk vehicles $50; animals running at large $50; failure to license $50; buggy ordinance violation $50; curfew violation $50; open burning (trash) $50; home solicitation regulation $250; smoking tobacco violation $100; travel during an emergency on county roads $500; no thru truck ordinance $300
Clevenger commented that several of those were already listed but some were added so they wanted to complete the list in this amendment.
The first reading of the ordinance that approves the fines passed with a unanimous vote. A motion to suspend the rules and approve the second and third reading also passed with a unanimous vote.
