Bremen Town Council Encourages Residents to Take Survey

The Marshall County Crossroads Stellar Communities Initiative will submit a Regional Development Plan to Stellar officials in September and the Bremen Town Council members encourage residents to assist in the effort.

Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy updated the council members Monday afternoon on progress of the committee members in the Marshall County Stellar effort.

The Town of Bremen’s projects include a new flex street project on South Jackson Street.  A flex street allows daily traffic and parking while being flexible and accessible for events and festivals.  There are no curbs which allows as a shared space for vehicles and pedestrians.  A pavilion will be in the middle of the road.  Other projects include renovations to the town pool and the renovation of the old church on South Street into a community center.

As part of the process, committee members are attempting to gather information on what residents may want in the community in terms of quality of life improvements.  The survey can be accessed on the town’s website at townofbremen.com.  It is a short, three-page survey with only a few questions on each page.  This will help officials make short-term and long-term plans for the town.

In addition to the survey, residents are encouraged to complete a questionnaire concerning the pool.  Park Superintendent Brian Main is looking for information on what the community members want to be done with the pool renovation and potential repairs, along with other needs.  Main said a link to the questionnaire will be included on the Park Department’s Facebook page.

Among the many paperwork requirements, the town council will consider three resolutions during their next meeting which would outline the town’s funding commitment for the projects, if awarded Stellar funds.
