Bremen Receives Reimbursement from FEMA

Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy told the Bremen Town Council members last week that reimbursement money from FEMA was distributed to the town after work done following the February flooding event last year.

At the time of the event, two to three feet of water surrounded the Wastewater Plant. The furnace, hot water heater, water conditioner and testing material stored at the facility had to be replaced.

Weldy said about $107,925.95 was distributed to the town and divided amongst the various entities involved with recovery efforts.

“Of course wastewater had most of the damage,” said Weldy.  “They got $89,000 of it, water got $5,000 of it, fire got $5,000 of it, the park is getting $4,000 of it, and then the General Fund is getting $4,151 for the dumpsters we ordered to help people clean up their stuff and my time for administration fees.”

Weldy thanked Water, Storm Water and Street Superintendent Alex Mikel and Wastewater Superintendent Matt Cunningham for their efforts in working with FEMA.
