Culver Town Council Approves Bid for Cavalier Sports Park

The Culver Town Council members reviewed a bid recommendation for the upcoming Cavalier Sports Park project.

Mike Reese from The Troyer Group reviewed the bids and recommended the town council award the contract to the lowest bidder, Thomas Excavating.

Town Manager Jonathan Leist said that the paperwork will need to go to grant writer Shannon McLeod from Priority Project Resources to ensure the release of the $500,000 in funding from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs.  Council President Ginny Bess Munroe said that will occur two weeks after Reese sends out the certified bid information.

The council members approved the lowest bid of $504,818 and authorized the council president to sign the necessary paperwork.

The Cavalier Sports Park project includes improvements to the soccer fields on the grounds of the Culver Community School Corporation, expanding the parking lots, moving the storm water retention pond to the east, building a restroom facility near the fields, adding a toddler park, an entry sign, and a walking trail on the perimeter of the park.

Construction is expected to begin this fall.
