Officials with the Bowen Center provided an update on operations during a joint session of the Marshall County Council and Commissioners Monday morning.
CEO Kurt Carlson pointed to the financial worksheet that outlined the money that is appropriated for services at the Bowen Center, including the money that the county gives to the organization for support. Carlson said salaries and free and reduced care were among the statistics provided and feels the county gets a great return on its investment.
Lindie Leary reviewed the programs that the Bowen Center offers.
“We have outpatient therapy services, we provide groups for outpatient and also substance use services,” explained Leary. “We have a full MAT clinic, which stands for Medication Assisted Treatment, and that is to treat opioid addiction and alcoholism. We have our rehab staff and there are over 50 staff members, and when I say that, that’s our community-based staff. They are wherever our clients need them. They’re in the schools, doctor’s appointments, and in homes. They’re helping clients find jobs and housing, and we also run groups then with our rehab staff also.”
Schools partner with the Bowen Center to offer Student Assisted Programs which allows students to have two free sessions if needed.
Programs for repeat offenders are also provided at the Marshall County Jail.
The commissioners and council members thanked the staff members for their efforts in assisting the residents of Marshall County.
