The deed and easement paperwork for the mitigation site around Bridge No. 89 in Marshall County is nearly complete.
Laurie Johnson from DLZ told the Marshall County Commissioners last week that the Army Corps of Engineers reviewed and approved the mitigation site exhibit for it to be released to the county. The legal description around the area is still being determined as the land that encompasses the site and the easement remains unclear. The commissioners will wait to sign the documents during their meeting next week.
The bridge project on 13th Road was done about a decade ago, but the mitigation site must be monitored for several years following the project to ensure proper tree and vegetation growth.
Once all is said and done, the county will be required to keep that site a mitigation site.
