Plymouth BOW Votes to Support Habitat for Humanity Project

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members this week discussed an upcoming Habitat for Humanity Project.

The members were asked to consider a parking lot as a site for four new owner-occupied townhomes with financing through the Indiana Housing Community Development Authority (IHCDA).  The site would be located in the 200 North block of Water Street. An IHCDA grant will provide up to $40,000 per dwelling unit in the form of a subsidy.  A match could be provided with the donation of the land on Water Street.

The grant will make the homes affordable to families earning 80 percent of median income or less.

Outside of the City of Plymouth, the proposal would also include three single family dwelling units in both Argos and Bourbon.

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety voted in favor of supporting the city’s portion of the project.  With that support the City would allocate $1,000 to help underwrite the grant application costs.  Town officials in Argos and Bourbon have also voiced support.

The proposal now goes to the Plymouth Plan Commission and BZA for consideration.
