The Marshall County Council members reviewed several additional appropriation requests before them Monday morning.
They approved $8,267.74 in the Surveyor’s budget after a line item was inadvertently left out of the 2019 budget.
Marshall County Community Corrections requested $27,000 for a part-time corrections officer, longevity for $2,100 and equipment in the amount of $105,000. Officials are seeking an additional officer and GPS systems in order to keep up with an increased case load. It was previously approved by the Community Corrections Board, and the County Council members approved it as well.
In the final request, Health Administrator Christine Stinson asked for $700 in order to recalibrate a fridge and freezer. It recently needed thousands of dollars in repairs and there was no money to cover the calibration cost. As a requirement from the CDC, it must be calibrated in order for proper storage of vaccines. The request was approved.
Stinson added that they hope to apply for a grant to purchase a new refrigerator and freezer, but they may not be able to. She said the grant is due at the end of the month and if they decide that they can apply, the request to apply for the grant will be delayed until March.
