Extended Hours Set for Property Tax Collection in Marshall County

Marshall County Treasurer Angie Birchmeier presented a schedule to the Marshall County Commissioners on Monday morning that includes property tax collection hours for the Spring and Fall installment payments.

“For the Spring collection which is due May 10, we are requesting Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to noon;  Thursday, May 9 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Friday, May 10 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.,” explained Birchmeier.  “For the Fall collection, which due to the Veteran’s Day observance will be due Tuesday, Nov. 12, we are requesting Friday, Nov. 8 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon; and Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.”

The commissioners approved the schedule for extended hours as presented for the Treasurer’s Office, Assessor’s Office and Auditor’s Office.

The commissioners also approved the contract with Worrell Corporation who prints and mails the tax statements. They have been under contract with the county for many years.  The contract is for $20,759.71 which is an increase due to the rise of the cost of postage.

Tax statements will be mailed out April 12 and again the first installment is due May 10.
