Thousands of Voters Turn in Early Ballots in Marshall County

Over 3,000 voters cast absentee ballots in Marshall County.

Marshall County Clerk Deb VanDeMark said Monday afternoon that 3,098 walk-in votes were cast in the Marshall County Clerk’s Office. There were two satellite locations available for early voting on Oct. 27 and Nov. 3 where 351 votes were cast at the Bremen Town Hall and 304 at the Culver Town Hall.

VanDeMark noted that in a non-presidential election year, the turn-out is higher than usual which is positive.

The Marshall County Election Board members took time Monday to count the number of mail-in absentee ballots in each precinct, along with any emailed and Travel Board ballots. They were counted against the number of ballots recorded by the Absentee Board members. The actual votes in those ballots will be tabulated after the polls close tonight at 6 p.m.

One mail-in ballot was questioned as the signature on the ballot did not match the signature recorded on the voter registration card or the poll book. The Election Board members decided to contact the Indiana Election Division to get clarification on what to do with that ballot.

The polls are open today from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. To check to see where you vote, visit www.indianavoters.com.
