Voluntary Annexation Discussed, Housing Development Planned

The Plymouth City Council members considered action Monday night on a voluntary annexation request.

The request came from Carl and Tanya Stockberger that would annex 44 acres into the city of Plymouth that is along Plymouth/Goshen Trail and Randolph Street on the north side of Centennial Park.

According to Burke Richeson who made the information available to the city council members, there is a plan in the works to create a market rate housing development on that property called Centennial Crossing. It would feature 55 Villaminiums, and a minimum of 220 apartments with one bedroom and one bathroom or two bedrooms and two bathrooms for single families and the senior community. Apartments would cost anywhere from $699 to $895. The same price range is available for senior living apartments. Eight-plex condos would go for $945 a month.

If developed, the units would appear similar to the Tippe River Downs units in Warsaw.

A public hearing on the annexation was held with different questions posed by the city council members. They later unanimously approved a resolution to accept the fiscal plan for the annexation.  The council acknowledged the first reading of an ordinance that would annex the 44 acres into the city limits.  For more of the information in this presentation, it will be offered during the Maximum Impact program on Sunday at noon on MAX 98.3 FM.
