Marshall County Council Approves Community Corrections Additional Appropriation

The Marshall County Council members considered a request for an additional appropriation for Marshall County Community Corrections for an interim Pre-Trial Quality Assurance Coordinator.

Community Corrections Director Ward Byers explained that the current employee has given notice that she will be leaving in December.

“I wanted to take the opportunity to hire an interim and pay that individual out of our Project Income Fund for the purposes of training,” said Byers. “Given the amount of work in the grant, work the pre-trial, the quality assurance piece, I wanted to give our new hire, whomever that may be, the opportunity to train side-by-side with the current employee.”

The interim position would be in place from Nov. 15 to Dec. 15. The new employee would then be paid out of the grant from Dec. 15 through the length of the grant.

The additional appropriation would be for $3,000 which includes benefits. The Department of Corrections approved the appropriation in September. He asked the county council to approve the appropriation, posting of the position and the salary ordinance to allow for the position. All requests were unanimously approved.
