The Marshall County Community Foundation held an awards presentation in Plymouth on Wednesday where recipients for the second round of 2018 Community Fund grants were announced.
During this year’s fall grant round, a total of $96,293 was awarded to fourteen Marshall County organizations for various projects.
Twice each year, nonprofit organizations are invited to submit proposals for new, innovative and collaborative projects. Community members who serve on the MCCF Grants Committee evaluate the proposals and conduct site visits during the competitive application process.
MCCF representatives report that unrestricted endowment funds are the most flexible and responsive of the Foundation’s funds in addressing current and emerging needs. Grants from unrestricted endowment funds typically support projects focused on the arts, education, health, human services, recreation and the environment.
The first grants from unrestricted funds were awarded in 1995. Since then, over $3.9 million in total grants have been provided to the community from those funds alone.
